NRF 2012: What a Difference a Year Makes!

Our Retail Insights research leadership team interviewed more nearly three score of vendors and a gaggle or two of retailers at the annual NRF Big Show conference in January 2012. Against a 15 percent increase in attendance from a year ago, as reported by NRF, we felt a palpable quickening of the pulse of IT enabled business initiatives planned for or already underway in 2012.

IT spending in the retail industry will reach nearly $85B in 2012.  Much of this growth is driven by changing business models which put the customer at the center of an omnichannel experience.  Two pending reports look at both the long term - based on our observations from this year's NRF big show - and near term - with the publishing of our 2012 budget guide.
