A few multi nationals recently announced their interest to develop India as a manufacturing hub. According to Samsung's President & CEO BD Park, India is set to be the next global factory with China losing its competitive edge due to rising labour costs. Samsung has 2 factories in India manufacturing a wide range of white goods from washing machines to smart phones for local demand and for export. Irene Rosenfeld, Chairman & CEO of Mondelez International which owns the popular Cadbury brand announced that India would be looked at as the manufacturing hub for the region in the years to come.

Bosch Software Innovations and Tech Mahindra (TechM) organized the "Internet of Things Innovation Connect" half day event on 30th July 2014 at TechM's campus near Delhi in India. The event had key participants from both teams, end users from the industry, niche IoT/M2M players, partners such as telecom service providers and consultants under one roof to talk about recent trends and share insights on IoT in the Indian market. The two teams got into a partnership in 2013 for developing and delivering software solutions in the IoT space with a primary focus on manufacturing and transportation industries.

I've recently returned from a week long class on 3D printing, and it’s easy to see that 3D printers are going to change the way we think about and enable design freedom and flexibility in the creative process. We’re going to see the implications in the availability of design tools, in who contributes to the design, in the conversion from design to manufacturing, and in the ability to design for the customer.
