Healthcare Providers and the Cloud

According to IDC's 2013 CloudTrack Survey, over 50% of healthcare organizations indicate that they will be piloting, using, or otherwise managing some form of cloud — public, private, or hybrid — as a part of their IT infrastructure in 2014 or 2015. The use of cloud computing as an increasingly business-critical technology is quickly changing how healthcare providers evaluate, procure, and deploy IT assets. Providers are increasingly realizing the importance of the cloud to their business, to allow their organizations to deliver the IT performance and agility needed to meet the demands of changing regulatory requirements and new risk based payment models. For this reason, I have introduced the Healthcare Provider Cloud MaturityScape, a new tool to allow providers to understand the use of cloud in their own organization.

    Jonas, don' you think that the architecture adopted to address traceability regulation could easily be replaced by IOT solutions. Main drivers: less implementation costs, no packaging line performance decrease, no additional cost for aggregation, and of course interconnexion with smart phone app.
