The expanded Adobe-Microsoft partnership significantly deepens the strategic relationship between the two companies – a relationship that kicked off at Adobe MAX two years ago. With this new agreement, Microsoft displaces Amazon Web Services (AWS) in a large account and will be able to sell a leading marketing cloud portfolio (including market-leading experience management) to its Dynamics 365 Enterprise customers. Adobe gains a key ally (and a new channel – including both direct enterprise sales and partners) for Adobe Marketing Cloud as it girds for battle with marketing cloud competitors from the CRM arena that play broadly in digital marketing, sales and support.

The Rise of Intelligent ERP (i-ERP)

Monolithic, cobbled together antiquated ERP systems of record are the technology backbone of the majority of businesses today. While antiques such as jewelry, furniture and pottery may increase in value over time, systems of record have hit their demise because their design and value cannot match the digital business needs of today. The most competitive and digitally modern businesses have embraced new innovative business models unlocking the value of information. These new systems are smart; utilizing systems of record information layered with autonomic and predictive intelligence assets. IDC calls this enhanced ERP portfolio of applications "intelligent ERP," or "i-ERP," and it will run tomorrow's businesses in an increasingly digital world.

OpenText to Acquire EMC's Enterprise Content Division

It took less than a week post-close for the newly merged Dell EMC to announce the divestiture of EMC's Enterprise Content Division (ECD) to OpenText, the natural acquirer for ECD's large Documentum customer base. OpenText continues its growth by acquisition strategy, becomes the clear market revenue leader in the content management market, and gets some interesting new products – despite daunting product overlap.
