On January 18, 2011 the White House released a Presidential Memorandum   Federal Register | Regulatory Compliance calling for a greater amount of disclosure of regulatory compliance information from the heads of executive departments and agencies.  The administration sees this as an important step in holding government and regulated entities more accountable for such things as protecting the air we breathe from particulate matter and car emissions, and the water we drink from toxic substances
