Dr. Alan Louie is Research Director at IDC Health Insights. In this role, he is spearheading the company’s research covering innovation and best practices in pharmaceutical R&D and personalized medicine with an emphasis on technology and innovation in clinical development.
A recognized thought leader in both the health and life sciences industries, Dr. Louie is a frequently sought-after speaker at top industry events, including Bio-IT World, DIA and the Drug Discovery Technology World Congress. He is also a highly regarded resource for the news media, with quotes in such renowned publications as the Boston Business Journal, the Boston Globe, Drug Discovery News, The Scientist, and The Wall Street Journal. He has authored more than 110 reports on innovation in the life sciences and blogs regularly on the topic. Dr. Louie brings more than 27 years of technology, product and strategy development from across the life science industry.
Previously, Dr. Louie led applied biotechnology programs as Senior Manager at Arthur D. Little, Inc. In this position, he led and managed numerous strategic and laboratory-based technology development programs, as well as provided technology and therapeutic area expertise to healthcare strategy projects. Prior to joining Arthur D. Little, he was responsible for the development and commercialization of more than 30 products for a variety of industries, including many first-in-class product offerings.
Dr. Louie graduated with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of California at Riverside and holds a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of California at Berkeley.
